The LTC3830ES is an ultra-fast step-down, adjustable switching mode power supply. It can operate with an input range of 0.5V to 5V, and produces a fixed output voltage of 0.8V to 5V or adjustable output voltage of 0.8V to 3.63V. The parts feature excellent loop stability, fast transient response, and low noise. Its integrated synchronous rectifier lowers power losses, while its dedicated DC mode eliminates the need for control loop compensation.

Working Principle

The LTC3830ES operates from an input voltage of 0.5V to 5V and it can deliver regulated output voltages from 0.8V to 5V or 0.8V to 3.63V. It supports buck topology, with pulse-width modulation (PWM) control and current-mode operation. It has a wide frequency range from 100 kHz up to 2 MHz, and can use external clock input. The high efficiency of the device is achieved by its internal synchronous rectified diode, allowing high switching frequencies while still maintaining a high output voltage accuracy.

The LTC3830ES features a fast transition time with a minimum of 250 ns load regulation error. It also has an adaptive slope compensation algorithm that improves the loop stability and transient response of the power stage at higher switching frequencies. The device can operate in either a forced continuous or discontinuous conduction mode, allowing it to deliver high output current over a wide range of load conditions.
