The LTC6946IUFD-3 is a precision, low power CMOS clock generator and frequency synthesizer. It is ideal for systems requiring low power consumption, small package size and a wide range of output frequencies. It is suitable for applications such as clock generators, frequency synthesizers and frequency dividers.

The LTC6946IUFD-3 clocks a wide range of 1 kHz to 40 MHz reference frequencies and produces up to 8 differential or 16 single-ended, frequency- or duty- adjustment enabled outputs. Features such as input clock duty-cycle adjustment, adjustable duty-cycle skew prevention and pulse/flight start/stop functions make the LTC6946IUFD-3 an excellent choice for applications such as frequency multiplier, frequency synthesizers, lookup table (LUT) control, video-clock synchronization, composite video encoder/decoder and digital video clock generation.

The LTC6946IUFD-3 has a low power consumption, low noise, wide temperature range and low output current consumption. It features an adjustable duty cycle, wide-band tuning power, programmable round-robin clock select and adjustable flight start/stop. It also features an adjustable duty-cycle skew prevention, adjustable pulse-to-flight loading, programmable output frequency and duty cycle and programmable duty cycle overrun. The clock generator has a wide temperature range from -40°C to 85°C and is designed to operate from 2.5V to 5.5V voltage supply.

The LTC6946IUFD-3 is designed to use an external clock input to generate an adjustable frequency and/or an adjustable duty cycle. It is configurable to work as a clock generator, frequency synthesizer or other clock circuit. It has adjustable clock duty cycle, adjustable output frequency, adjustable flight start/stop, adjustable bias and power-saving PRESET mode. It can also be configured to programmable flight timing which allows phase delay control.

The working principle of the LTC6946IUFD-3 clock generator includes the following steps: (1) receives an external reference clock signal on an input terminal, (2) converts the external reference clock signal into an internal clock signal (which is internally synchronized to the clock signal from the external reference clock input), (3) programs the output frequency and duty cycle using the register settings, (4) provides adjustable starting and stopping points for the output clock signal, (5) regulates the output clock
