The LTC6948IUFD-2#PBF is a Clock Generator, Phase-Locked Loop (PLL), and Frequency Synthesizer from the Clock/Timing family. It is an integrated frequency synthesizer and clock generator that is well suited for a wide range of precision timing applications. This device generates very low-noise and low jitter clock signals for precise timing requirements. It can generate precise frequencies over a wide range, with a good phase noise performance. Additionally, this device can be used to create precise frequency ratios between clock output signals. The LTC6948IUFD-2#PBF is based on a programmable Digital Phase Locked Loop (DPLL) architecture, with low phase noise and jitter PLL blocks. It has an automatic lock detection feature which determines when the PLL has acquired and is tracking its input frequency, as well as an automatic calibration feature which makes the device good for frequency synthesizers with wide frequency range outputs. It also has additional built-in features such as programmable frequency ramping, duty cycle manipulation, output slew rate and slew-rate limiting. The DPLLs in this device use a loop filter circuit to reduce jitter and phase noise. The loop filter is composed of capacitors and resistors and implemented using a closed-loop architecture. This type of architecture ensures low phase noise and jitter operation, while providing reliable operation in high-frequency applications. The LTC6948IUFD-2#PBF also contains an internal phase-frequency detector (PFD) and loop-filter bandwidth control circuit which increases performance when controlling input frequencies up to 200MHz.The device also has digital frequency synthesis capability. The LTC6948IUFD-2#PBF uses a multiphase Digital Synthesizer (DS) to generate multiple frequency output waveforms. It has a fast switching frequency range from 10MHz to 50MHz and up to 128 phase states. This allows for a high degree of accuracy and frequency-ratio control. The on-chip digital synthesizer is programmable and can be set up to fine-tune the frequency of the output. The output clock signal is generated by a reference clock frequency and by a digital frequency synthesizer. The device has a variable frequency output range of 100kHz to 200MHz and a variable frequency accuracy of 0.01Hz or better. The clock output is phase-locked to the reference clock input. It is also available in 2.5V, 3.3V and 3V LVCMOS levels. In addition to its frequency synthesizer and clock generator capabilities, the LTC6948IUFD-2#PBF also provides a range of clock-management features, including an internal clock multiplier, reference clock frequency divider, and an adjustable output power-on timing delay. It has also been designed to be compatible and works in tandem with the LFXD family of LTC products, which provides a comprehensive and powerful range of clock control solutions. The LTC6948IUFD-2#PBF is an excellent choice for a variety of precision clock and timing applications.
