LTM8047MPY#PBF

The LTM8047MPY#PBF is a synchronous DC-DC step-down converters with integrated power MOSFETs. The converters provide high power density and excellent efficiency,particularly over wide output current ranges. Part of Linear Technologies\' integrated negative-voltage Hot Swap Solutions, the LTM8047MPY#PBF operatessynchronously to reduce input voltage at the load to a regulated output voltage. It is ideal for PoE (power over ethernet) applications since it is optimized to withstand high inrush currents and offers fast output voltage settling times.

The LTM8047MPY#PBF is perfectly suitable for usage in networking and PoE applications due to its high power density, excellent efficiency, optimized Hot Swap operation and fast output voltage settling time. Additionally, it is suitable for distributed power systems since it comes with integrated power MOSFETs and the possibility of paralleling devices, allowing for higher power density and whole system safety protection.

Aside from the aforementioned applications, the LTM8047MPY#PBF can also be used for IOT (Internet Of Things) platform management, industry networking, wired communication networks, power over ethernet, distributed power systems and automated factory systems. In some applications, due to its high integrated power MOSFETs coverage, customers can even just use the LTM8047MPY#PBF alone, without adding external MOSFETs.

Working Principle

The LTM8047MPY#PBF works by synchronizing its operation with that of an external clock, which is connected to the CLKIN pin. Upon receiving a clock signal, the pulse-width modulated (PWM) controller modulates the MOSFET and holds the output voltage at a constant value, while also regulating the output current. A separate error amplifier provides voltage feedback from the external output voltage sensing with accurate voltage regulation.

The gain and upper and lower reference voltages of the error amplifier are adjustable. An external resistor divider can be used as a feedback voltage setting, and can define the soft-start time during the startup process. The enable pin, EN, is used to shutdown the LTM8047MPY#PBF to conserve power.

Thanks to the integrated power MOSFETs, the LTM8047MPY#PBF also offers excellent start up performance. In addition, the device also features integrated Soft-Start, Reverse Input Current Blocking and Over-Voltage Protection. The device is also RoHS/REACH compliant and is certified to UL/IEC/EN 62368 safety specifications.
