Working Principle

LTM8061EV-8.4#PBF is a monolithic battery charger IC which combines a wide input voltage range buck/boost converter，a buck controller, an N-Channel MOSFET switch, a battery pre-charge circuit, safety features and current, voltage and temperature monitoring in a single device.The single-phased buck/boost converter uses a primary side current mode control scheme with the 2-phase control topology to achieve the wide-range input voltage and improve the light load efficiency. Buck/boost converter is the circuit in LTM8061EV-8.4#PBF which provides the required setpoint voltage to the battery depending on the input voltage. This buck/boost topology keeps the power consumption low in the lightload condition and switching frequency at 375kHz. Additional voltage regulation and current sensing is provided by the buck controller, which further boosts the system efficiency to 98%, and Monitor and Protection circuitry in the charger ensures safe and reliable operation.
