Working Principle

LTMM-110-02-G-D-20 utilizes a "pin header" design with dual-wipe male contacts. These contacts are spring-loaded and provide a solid connection when two housing surfaces are brought together. The dual-wipe contacts help reduce insertion force and improve contact reliability.

Each header consists of two concentric barrels (or tubes) in which the contacts are held. The outer barrel has an external knurled surface, while the inner barrel contains the contacts in a specific arrangement and the inner barrel is not visible from the outside of the header.

To mate the housing, the external knurled surface is compressed. As it compresses, the inner barrel pushes the contacts into the cavity of the mating housing. The contacts emerge from the cavity and are forced against the mating contacts, resulting in an electrical connection.
