Among various types of optical sensor, the LTR-559ALS-01 Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) is a digital output module that allows the measurement of ambient light and converts the light intensity to a digital number for subsequent processing.The LTR-559ALS-01 is a Silicon photodiode based optoelectronic component; it is the integration of an Ambient Light Sensor, an IR Filter, and signal processing IC which works on ambient light over a wide variety of wavelengths, from visible to infrared. It\'s compact, low-cost, and built-in with a high precision temperature compensating circuitry. It is capable of taking light measurement from 0-65535Lux and provides an accurate and reliable output signal. The primary applications of the LTR-559ALS-01 Ambient Light Sensor are human interface systems, including consumer applications, industrial applications, and sensor applications. In particular, the device is frequently used in consumer systems, such as display backlights and optical switches for adjusting LCD brightness, computer backlights and LED dimmers, and in automatic exposure control circuits for cameras.
