<p>LX1882-33CDU is a high efficiency, synchronous, step-down DC/DC switching regulator that operates from input voltages from 2.5V to a maximum of 5.5V and provides regulated output voltages as low as 0.6V. The device is available in a small, low-profile package, making it ideal for applications such as notebook computers, cellular phones, and portable devices. LX1882-33CDU operates in three different modes: PWM Mode, Burst Mode or Forced PWM Mode. The LX1882-33CDU also features an enable pin that allows you to turn off the DC/DC switching regulator.</p><p><strong>Application Field</strong></p><p>LX1882-33CDU has wide application fields, such as notebook computers, cellular phones, portable devices and other battery-operated systems. The current consumption and switching frequency are adjustable and can be used to satisfy the design requirements of various portable applications.</p><p><strong>Working Principle</strong></p><p>The LX1882-33CDU employs a buck switching regulator architecture. A switching MOSFET is driven by the internal oscillator. The internal oscillator is designed to switch the MOSFET at a constant frequency of 300kHz for a lightweight solution and less dissipation. The LX1882-33CDU also has an enable pin input that can be used to turn off the DC/DC switching regulator to reduce its power consumption. The output voltage is regulated by comparing the FB pin voltage with the reference voltage and controlling the duty cycle. When the FB voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the duty cycle is decreased, resulting in lower output voltage; when it is lower, the duty cycle is increased and the output voltage is raised.</p><p>In PWM mode, the output voltage is controlled by adjusting the duty cycle. The LX1882-33CDU uses a special PWM control scheme to achieve improved light load efficiency. As light load current decreases, the system enters into burst mode operation. In this mode, the output voltage is tightly regulated by a DC-DC converter switching between two duty cycles at a fixed frequency.</p><p>Forced PWM mode is used to improve EMI performance. In this mode, the switching frequency is fixed, while the duty cycle can be adjusted to maintain the output voltage. This mode helps to reduce EMI by reducing the content of switching harmonics.</p><p>LX1882-33CDU operates in input voltages from 2.5V to 5.5V and can provide regulated output voltages as low as 0.6V. It has a low quiescent current of 36μA and a high efficiency of up to 98%. The device is available in a small, low profile package and is ideal for applications that require high efficiency, low noise and size.</p>
