The Silicon is the active material in the semiconductor that absorbs the electrical energy and converts it into visible light. This process is known as visible light controlling.

When electric current is passed through the semiconductor material, electrons are excited to a higher energy state, producing visible light which is then emitted. By controlling the amount of current and voltage applied to the semiconductor, different colors of light can be obtained. This is why white light can easily be produced with just one LED system.

To be able to produce white LED light, the LXR8-QW40 LED system is designed with four individual LED’s in a row. Each LED is optimized for a specific wavelength of light: red, green, blue, and clear (or ultraviolet). When all four LED’s are combined, they produce a white light with a CRI (color rendering index) of more than 80. This makes the LXR8-QW40 light perfectly suitable for interior lighting purposes.

The LXR8-QW40 is also designed to be highly energy efficient, reducing energy consumption by almost 67%. By using fewer LEDs, the system produces less heat in comparison with traditional lighting systems. It also consumes 80% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and consumes up to 50% less energy than an average CFL lightbulb.
