Working Principle

The LY330ALHTR uses MEMS technology to accurately measure rotation rate and angle changes. This is done by taking a ring-shaped silicon frame, etching it into a Central Central Disk (CD) along with 3 support arms, plus 4 gap capacitors and 6 balls for the lateral force balance (LFB) balance system. The 2 front and 2 back gap capacitors are made from a single piece and are sensitive to the changes of the revolving angle. Together, they form a differential measuring circuit that measures the rotating angle. The four balls arranged in the sense of a square are sensitive to the static degree, and the combined effects of their gravity and Electrostatic force (ESF) are used to maintain the oscillator’s lateral stability.
