It has a very low voltage drop, making it very energy efficient. The LED itself has a tri-color LED with dimensions of 4.5mm x 2.2mm x 1.1 mm and is rated for a continuous forward current of 15mA. The LED has an anode and a cathode, with both pins connected to one terminal. The LED is constructed from two different LED chips: an anode placed on the lower portion of the LED, and a cathode placed on the upper portion of the LED. The two chips are connected at the anode to provide a common anode. When the two chips operate in parallel, the single LED will operate in an Orange-Green bicolor mode; when the voltages are applied in opposite polarities, the LED will operate in a White-Blue bicolor mode.In Orange-Green mode, the voltage applied to the anode will determine the color of the LED indicator. When the voltage applied to the anode is 0.3V-Vcc, the LED will be Orange. When the voltage applied to the anode is 0.7V-Vcc, the LED will be Green.In White-Blue mode, a negative voltage is applied to the anode and switches the LED between two different colors. When the voltage applied to the anode is 0V-Vcc, the LED will be White. When the voltage applied to the anode is -1V-Vcc, the LED will be Blue.The LY521 LED indicator is designed to be used as a fault diagnostic indicator, typically used in the event of a fault in the system. The LED will be visible even in failure conditions, such as a blown fuse or overloaded circuit, and will show a visual cue to the problem. The LED can be used as a status indicator, or to provide a discrete indicator when a specific fault condition has occurred.The LY521 has a wide operating temperature range (from -40°C to +85°C), making it suitable for a variety of applications, such as automotive, industrial, telecommunications and industrial electronics.
