Optical Sensors – Photointerrupters – Slot Type – Logic Output

An optical sensor, such as the M18-LT6000-A-M-PN-J, belongs to one of three types of photointerrupters, which include slotted type, reflective type, and transmissive type. The slotted type photointerrupter is the most common type and is used in many applications.

Working Principle

A slotted photointerrupter is an optical switch that uses a light source to signal an opening or closing of two contacts.
