System On Chip, famously known as SoC, is an integrated circuit in which multiple functional blocks such as processor cores, memory blocks, peripheral interfaces, configuration and control logic are made available all on the same piece of semiconductor die. M2S010S-1TQG144 is an embedded SoC designed by Moxa and manufactured in TSMC 28nm HPC process technology. It features ARM Cortex®-A53 application processor, ARM Cortex®-M4 MCU and Dual ISP.
M2S010S-1TQG144 SoC main application field is to power multimedia and AI embedded systems for applications such as machine vision and surveillance. This SoC can also be used as an entry-level AI processor for industrial computing and IoT applications.
The M2S010S-1TQG144 works on a duplex connection, meaning it contains both a host processor and an accelerometer processor in the same package. The host processor runs user-defined applications and the accelerometer processor is composed of Digital Signal Processors (DSP) for advanced signal processing applications. The ARM Cortex®-A53 is the host processor used by M2S010S-1TQG144, while the ARM Cortex®-M4 is the accelerometer processor.
The M2S010S-1TQG144 features a high-performance CPU architecture with common Open-V architecture, a high-bandwidth DDR Memory Bus, built-in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine, a comprehensive I/O subsystem and advanced semiconductor packaging technology.
M2S010S-1TQG144 has four ARM Cortex®-A53 cores with up to 2GHz clock frequency, which has been designed for high-level applications such as computer vision, image processing, robotics and medical image analysis, etc. The ARM Cortex®-M4 core with up to 200MHz operating frequency is used for low-power applications. This ARM Cortex®-M4 core also supports dedicated DSP architectures and HMP(multithreading) technology.
The SoC architecture of M2S010S-1TQG144 also incorporates up to 4MB of SRAM, 1 Gbps network connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet, dual image signal processors (ISP), VGA/HD dual ISP image processing, OpenCL support and Trusted Execution Environment(TEE) to provide secure data processing. The M2S010S-1TQG144 also features an enhanced video hardware accelerator including an H.265/HEVC encoder and a H.264/AVC decoder.
To provide highly efficient and power-saving operation, the M2S010S-1TQG144 is based on Multi-Voltage Memory Bus, which uses low power voltage (1.1V) to access the internal memory. The SoC also integrated fully programmable, ultra low consumption DCDC buck regulator that enhance system stability and power efficiency.
In addition, the system integration features 4~16 lanes of PCI Express 4.0, up to 16K video inputs configuration and M12 connector support, making M2S010S-1TQG144 be an ideal platform for embedded applications. Finally, the functionality of the M2S010S-1TQG144 SoC can be further broadened by adding an optional Moxa FPGA board and software libraries.
