Tantalum Capacitors

Tantalum capacitors are capacitors that use tantalum as the anode material. They are also known as tantalum electrolytic capacitors, which are made of a tantalum anode, an electrolyte solution, and a non-conductive solid manganese dioxide (MnO2) cathode. The premise of their production is that rod-shaped tantalum powder is vacuum-pressed into a compact anode, covered with a manganese oxide (MnO2) cathode material, and immersed in an aqueous or anhydrous electrolyte. The most commonly used tantalum capacitor is a wet-electrolytic capacitor, which is a capacitor with an electrolyte that is liquid or gel-like.

M39003/01-2694/HSD is a wet-electrolytic capacitor. It is an open-ended capacitor designed to provide a high-performance solution for surface-mounted applications. It is typically used in circuit applications such as cell phones, digital cameras, and computers. It is also used in automotive applications such as navigation systems and airbag systems.

Its working principle is based on the use of a polarized tantalum capacitors, which requires two electrodes: the positive and the negative. When a potential is applied across the two electrodes, a current flows, charging the Tantalum capacitor. This current causes a layer of oxides to build up on the anode, providing a physical barrier that limits the rate of current flow. When the voltage across the capacitor is removed, the oxide layer helps to maintain the charge.

The M39003/01-2694/HSD capacitor is a type of surface-mount tantalum capacitor with a low ESR (equivalent series resistance) and an extended capacitance range, typically rated up to 150uF. It provides a higher capacitance range than standard SMD capacitors, making it ideal for applications such as portable electronics and hand-held devices. The capacitor also has a high level of moisture sensitivity; however, the use of special dielectric materials limits the amount of moisture that can be absorbed in the capacitor.
