• M39003/01-2864/98 Application Field and Working Principle

  M39003/01-2864/98 (PLCC-2) tantalum capacitors use a tantalum powder core and are widely used due to their low ESR values and compact size. The PLCC-2 package is designed in the radial direction rather than the axial direction, making them suitable for superficial mounting and optimal for use in switch-mode power supplies and other high-frequency applications.

  These capacitors have an anode core made of sintered tantalum particles, a cathode foil made of electrolytic aluminum and an anode-to-cathode, manganese dioxide dielectric layer that may become thicker after being formed. Since the oxidation layer of the cathode pracaically becomes part of the dielectric layer, the device can be used for pulse and ripple current applications with the dielectric oxides showing excellent resistance to high voltage.

  The capacitance of the M39003/01-2864/98 is expressed in the range of 10μF-220μF with a rated voltage ranging from 4V to 16V, polarizing at 20mA max and a temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. The operating temperature range for non-polar devices has a -40°C to +125°C in comparison of the +85°C of the polarized versions.
