Working Principle

The M39003/01-5266/HSD tantalum capacitor works on the principle of a liquid electrolyte that serves as a medium between the two conducting surfaces, an anode and a cathode, inside the capacitor. As a voltage is applied, the current encloses in a ‘closed loop’. This loop helps to maintain the charge stored on the capacitor thus keeping the capacitance value constant. The electrolyte, acts to close the loop, offering low impedance between the anode and the cathode.

These capacitors are designed with an improved anode structure that reduces the ESR of the capacitor to an ultra-low level while instantly releasing any evaporated oxygen generated, eliminating the risk of fire in hazardous operating conditions. Additionally, an improved cathode structure is used that minimizes the risk of thermal runaway which is caused by high temperature and current overload. The capacitor is also highly reliable and has a low failure rate.
