Tantalum Capacitors

A Tantalum Capacitor is a small electrochemical device used to store electrical energy and can be used as a direct replacement for electrolytic capacitors in many applications. Tantalum capacitors are made from a dielectric layer of tantalum pentoxide, which is sandwiched between two metal electrodes. When a voltage is applied to the electrodes, an electric field is created within the dielectric which in turn produces a capacitance.
