Tantalum Capacitors

Tantalum capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor widely used in the electronics industry. A tantalum capacitor is a type of electrolytic capacitor made with a metal-oxide capacitive anode, and a tantalum metal cathode. It is a polarised capacitor with an electrolyte, usually an organic solvent such as a polyether or polyester, as the dielectric material.

Working Principle

The working principle of the M39003/01-5532 is quite simple and based on the laws of electrostatics. Its internal composition consists of a dielectric layer in between two metal electrodes. When a voltage is applied to the capacitor, an electric field is created between the two plates. This electric field causes a charge to flow to one plate, inducing a potential difference between the two electrodes.

The capacitance of the M39003/01-5532 is determined by the size of the plates, the density of the dielectric material, and the distance between the plates. A larger plate size, higher dielectric density, and smaller plate separations will yield a higher capacitance. The internal ESR of the tantalum capacitor is determined by the electrical resistance of the electrolyte.
