Tantalum capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor which contains a Ta-OH anode, porous Ta-O cathode, and an inert, non-polar Ta2O5 dielectric layer positioned between the anode and the cathode. The M39003/01-7193 capacitors are wide-body, thin-film, solid-state, surface-mount devices. These devices are efficient, stable, and much smaller than their conventional counterparts. They are available in a variety of sizes and shapes, ranging from 0201 chip size to 1206 ceramic chip or DIP and leaded-package styles.

The M39003/01-7193 capacitors can be used in many applications. They can be used in automotive, medical, industrial, home, and commercial applications as well as in computers and communications, as they provide power conditioning as well as filtering and stepper motor control in diverse applications. Moreover, they provide exceptional vibration resistance and high reliability, and are able to operate in a wide temperature range (-55°C to +125°C).

The working principle of the M39003/01-7193 capacitors is based on the physical phenomena of electrochemical double layer capacitance. An electric field created between two dissimilar elements (anode and cathode) sticks electrons and ions onto the material to form the double layer. The electrons and ions are then drawn away due to the applied voltage thus creating the capacitance. The Ta-OH anode provides a positive polarity that is held constant by the Ta2O5 dielectric layer. The Ta-O cathode is electrically negative, and when voltage is applied to the capacitors it causes the electrons and ions to form a capacitance between the anode and the cathode.

The M39003/01-7193 capacitors offer several advantages over other capacitors, such as high capacitance values beginning at 1000pF, high ESR values, low package resistance, and high reliability. They are also highly reliable and can withstand extreme temperatures. The capacitance values of these devices can be increased by up to 50% when compared to other types of capacitors.
