Tantalum Capacitors
Tantalum capacitors are small, energy-efficient components used for storing and supplying fast pulses of energy in a variety of electronic appliances. Capable of delivering large amounts of power for a relatively small size, their popularity has continued to increase, making them a common choice for applications in which energy efficiency or compactness are important. The M39003/01-7364H is a type of tantalum capacitor manufactured by a company under the trademark PDV. Featuring a wide operating temperature range of -55 to +200 degrees Celsius, an operating voltage of 50 volts, and suitable for low-frequency signal transmission up to 10Mhz, this capacitor can be used in a variety of applications. The major components of a tantalum capacitor include the anode, cathode, and dielectric material. The anode consists of a powdered tantalum material shaped into pressed grooves on either side of a wire mesh to form a sponge. When the capacitor is charged with electricity, this powdered tantalum expands and solidifies into an oxide, providing a dense layer of dielectric material which separates, yet allows the electric current to pass through. The anode and cathode are connected using either sintered particles or stars, depending on the design of the capacitor. The M39003/01-7364H capacitor is formed in a range of case styles:chip-in-cap (CIN), maxi-mdip (MMax), and ceramic CIN (MCC), which provide flexibility in terms of board space saving. This capacitor is equipped with an electrolytic storage unit which ensures ideal stability and fast operation. Its reliable hermetically sealed construction, combined with its low internal losses and wide operating temperature range, make it among the best choice for use in portable electronic gadgets and solar-powered devices, where energy efficiency is important. The capacitor is also capable of producing much higher peak currents than conventional electroplated parts. Its tantalum surface can sustain a surge current up to 4 times the rated value of the capacitor without any sudden failure. In addition, its low equivalent series resistance (ESR) allows it to deliver higher amounts of surge current for a longer period of time. The M39003/01-7364H capacitor also has a very low self-discharge rate, which makes it ideal for use in applications which require long-term reliable operation.
