Tantalum capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor, a component of an electronic circuit. The cathode is formed by a dense thick-film layer printed directly onto the body. The anode-cathode capacitance value is obtained by the oxidized layer thickness. A hermetically sealed case of stainless steel AISI 302 with nickel plating and welded endcaps is filled with an electrolyte (mixture of organic solvents and sulfuric acid) which gives the capacitor its electrical properties. Its ESR is very low and its temperature coefficient is exceptionally low (± 30PPM/ °C).
