Tantalum capacitors are widely used in various electronic devices and systems requiring high precision, stable and reliable performance. The M39003/09-0331H is a highly reliable surface-mount tantalum capacitor, providing a high temperature operation range of -55°C to 125°C with excellent and stable electrical performance over the full temperature range. The M39003/09-0331H series is typically used to provide a direct connection to other integrated circuits especially in DC/DC converters, battery-operated equipment and automotive applications such as ECM controllers, metering, and industrial systems. It is also designed for use in high-frequency communications systems, such as mobile radio and satellite communications. The M39003/09-0331H has a variety of capacitance options, ranging from 10 pF to 180 pF, and a maximum operating voltage of 20 VDC and 25 VAC. It has an extremely low ESR of 0.0039Ω, and a very low Leakage Current of 0.09 μA at 2.0V. Due to the extreme low ESR and Leakage Current, the M39003/09-0331H can provide greater circuit stability and accuracy over the full temperature range.The construction of the M39003/09-0331H consists of a tantalum core electrode, a dielectric coating, and three external passivated electrodes. The capacitor provides an extremely low ESR due to the use of a tantalum core which is a highly conductive material. The dielectric coating ensures that the capacitor reduces noise and interference from outside sources. The external passivated electrodes provide an extremely low leakage current and protect the dielectric coating from moisture and contaminants that could otherwise cause a short circuit.The operating principle of the M39003/09-0331H is based on the principle of a capacitor. When two conductors are separated by a dielectric material, an electric field is created. The amplitude of the electric field is determined by the dielectric constant of the material and the amount of voltage applied across the conductors. When a voltage is applied to the conductors, the dielectric material creates an opposing electric field. This creates a capacitance, and the resulting voltage difference between the two conductors is stored as electrical energy. When connected across an AC current, a capacitor passes a certain portion of the current based on its capacitance. The higher the capacitance, the higher the current passing. As the AC current cycles, the capacitor will alternately charge and discharge, resulting in a varying voltage across the capacitor. This causes the power supply to experience fluctuations in current and voltage that can be used to filter out or reduce unwanted components in the circuit. The M39003/09-0331H tantalum capacitor offers very low ESR and very low Leakage Current, enabling a stable and reliable performance in various conditions. This makes it an ideal choice for a variety of electronic applications, ranging from DC/DC converters, battery operated equipment and automotive applications, to high-frequency communications systems.
