Operating Principle

Under low voltage conditions, a tantalum capacitor consists of two electrodes which are separated by an electrolyte. The two electrodes consist of a metal anode and a dielectric oxide layer which serve as the capacitive layer. The dielectric oxide layer of the M39003/09-3080H capacitor is made of tantalum pentoxide which is highly resistant to heat and chemical corrosion. When a voltage is applied across the two electrodes, the electrons in the oxide layer move towards the positive electrode. This creates an electric charge which forms a capacitive field between the two electrodes. The capacitive field reduces as the applied voltage increases, which leads to an increase in the capacitance of the capacitor.

Advantages
