Tantalum capacitors, sometimes referred to as tantalum electrolytic capacitors, are the smallest electrolytic capacitors available and are frequently found in electronic equipment. The M39003/09-4024/HSD series of capacitors is the latest generation of tantalum capacitors which offers an improved performance over previous generations. This high-temperature rating and improved reliability make it especially suitable for use in applications such as medical and industrial equipment where extreme reliability and operational safety are essential.

The construction of the M39003/09-4024/HSD capacitor is based on a tantalum pentoxide anode which is formed to a high degree of accuracy to ensure consistent performance and reliability. The anode is held in a dielectric encasement which shields it from external influences such as moisture and temperature variations. This encasement also ensures that the construction of the capacitor can withstand high voltages and the resulting leakage current is kept to a minimum.
