Tantalum capacitors are solid capacitors, often referred to as "tantalum electrolytic capacitors". They are made up of a tantalum powder and its oxide, which is formed into a pellet shape, then sintered and packed with a sealant. The two electrodes of the capacitor are formed on the same pellet, one connected to the tantalum, the other connected to the oxide. The anode is the oxide and the cathode is the tantalum. This type of capacitor is sealed with a lid, and its rated voltage and capacity are indicated on the cap. The oxide layer is a very thin layer of anodized tantalum, and the oxide\'s dielectric constant is very good.

The type M39006/09-8281 is a polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitor with radiused radials.
