Multiple Conductor Cables Multiple conductor cables are those which contain more than one conductor. These are mainly used to bring power from a source to different loads or between two different devices. As power transmission needs a set of wires, these cables are designed in a way that incorporates multiple conductors. Such cables consist of 1 to 16 conductors, and more in some instances. M4721 NC002 is an example of a multiple conductor cable, used for power transmission. It is a UL listed, UL 1685 approved, Sun-resistant, black tray cable with 16 AWG tinned-copper conductor. This cable has various applications, ranging from domestic to industrial, as it is suitable for wet, zone 1, 2 and 22 hazardous locations. It is also suitable for the wiring of lights, motors, control panels, appliances and equipment. The working principle of M4721 NC002 is based on the Ohm’s law. This law states that voltage between two points is equal to the current passing through it and the resistance in between the two points. In M4721 NC002, the current is transmitted from one end to the other using a flow of electrons, which is determined by the resistance in between the two points. The flow of electrons is due to the electromagnetic field. When the electricity is generated, the flow of electrons causes a voltage. This voltage is regulated before it reaches its destination as it might damage the device which is to be connected to it. The electrical transformer is used for voltage correction so that the device connected receives the electrical power with the correct amount of voltage. The voltage level in M4721 NC002 is limited to 600V. With a temperature range of -20°C to +60°C, it is suitable for both hot and clod climates. This type of cable is resistant to flame as it is designed in accordance to the UL 1685 flame test. Since it is pre-filled with oil, it has lower risk of damaging due to water and moisture. It should be noted that while these cables are useful for providing power to different devices, proper maintenance and care should be taken. If these cables are handled roughly, they can get damaged and can cause shock. Also, an overloaded circuit can result in a fire hazard.
