Tantalum - Polymer Capacitors

Tantalum - Polymer capacitors, also known as Polymer Tantalum Capacitors (Tantalum-Polymer E-caps), are a type of capacitor that uses a polymer electrolyte-filled between Ta (tantalum) anodes and and TaNb (titanium-niobium alloy) cathode to achieve a tantalum capacitor with increased capacitance and longer life. Whilst traditional solid Ta capacitors suffer from low volumetric efficiency, the polymer-based construction of Tantalum-Polymer capacitors allows designers to capitalize on the advantages of both types of capacitors, producing examples with a high capacitance, high insulation resistance, high stability and reliability, alongside good endurance and self-healing properties.The M550B507K060AG, built by Xicon, is a Tantalum-Polymer capacitor.
