The M74HC280B1R is a TTL compatible high speed bipolar advanced high performance CMOS logic IC belonging to the Logic - Parity Generators and Checkers family. It is a 8-bit parity generator and checker. With two integrated enable logic blocks, this device performs the generation of even parity, or the check of parity for 8 bit data words.--
The enable logic consists of two input terminals (EN1 and EN2): EN1 enables parity generation to begin with the negative going transition of EN1, and EN2 enables parity check to begin with the positive going transition of EN2.
The M74HC280B1R has an 8-bit Odd Parity (ODD) and Even Parity (EVEN) output pins to indicate the result of the parity check. The ODD pin will be active high with an odd number of 1s in the data. The EVEN pin will be active high with an even number of 1s in the data.
The device also features two logic outputs: ST and STP. The ST output is the parity-check indication, while the STP output is the parity-check indication and the enabled logic output.
