D-Sub Cables
D-sub cables, also known as D-subminiature connectors, are a miniaturized version of the DE-9 connector. These cables are commonly used as connection ports for external storage devices and peripherals higher than the standard serial port. The similarity of their functioning to the original DE-9 connector has made them the top choice amongst device architects and users alike.
M7SXK-1510J Application Field and Working Principle
TheM7SXK-1510J is a standard 9-pin D-sub cable that is most commonly used for connecting between computers and peripheral devices. It features soldered contacts at both ends and is shielded for purpose of increasing signal transmission quality. This cable is generally used for connecting to external devices such as printers, scanners, and video projectors. It is also widely used for transmitting analog signals and digital audio signals.
As for its working principle, a D-sub cable is composed of multiple copper wires which are fitted in a plastic connector. The wires are tightly knit together and make connection within the pins. The pins are arranged in two rows, designated as the ‘male’ and ‘female’ pins. Equipment manufactures determine how many male and female pins a device needs in order to properly connect and it is up to the cable manufacturer to create a cable with the requisite number of pins.
In the case of the M7SXK-1510J, it features 9 male pins and the same amount of female pins. The pins serve to transmit electrical signals in the form of binary data between devices that are connected to the cable. Once connected, the receiving device’s battery power actuates a signal that runs through the transmission wires and to the connected devices. This signal serves to transfer data and commands between the devices.
In addition, the shielding is of utmost importance in the transfer of electrical signals between the two sides of the connector, as it serves to intercept and redirect any radio frequency interference. This is done by covering both the end of the cable, as well as the connection points. The shielding in the M7SXK-1510J is composed of an aluminum-mylar jacket which is wrapped around the connector, and even around both sides of the pins. This prevents interference from radios, computers, and appliances and also helps in lengthening the quality of the cable.
D-sub cables offer the option of connecting up to 100 contacts on each side of the cable, allowing it to be used in almost any type of data connection. The M7SXK-1510J with its 9-pins is one of the most commonly used connectors, due to its user-friendly design and cost efficiency. Its wide range of applications, which includes data transmission, audio and video production, remote control, as well as industrial devices, make it all the more appealing.
