Working principle

The M80-8401745 is a low profile, space saving, horizontally stacked interconnect system. Its high powered receptacle contacts have a 1.0mm spacing with a current rating up to 5.0A, and provide a 2.0mm mating height. These positive latching receptacles are ideal for small and medium size PCBs. The receptacles are routed from the top side and header contacts are routed from bottom side. Insulation displacement contacts are made with UL 94V-0 rated high temperature thermoplastic and provides excellent reliability.

To make the connection, the M80-8401745 will first require the headers to be inserted into the PCB connector pad holes from the bottom side of the PCB. It will then require the mating header on the other side of the PCB to be placed onto the receptacle contacts, pushing the contacts into the mating connector and making an electrical and mechanical connection between the two. Lastly, to ensure the connection is secure, the female sockets will be locked into place with their latch actuator on one of the headers.
