Position Sensors are used to measure position, distance, velocity, rotation, and/or orientation of an object or target in a given environment. The MA302GQ-P is one such Position Sensor, designed for detecting angular, linear motion and position. This sensor is capable of measuring absolute angular and linear positions up to ±10 ° and 2.5 m respectively and up to 100 Hz and 10 Hz sample rates for angular and linear position respectively.

Working Principle
The MA302GQ-P works on the principle of Hall effect. Hall effect is a phenomenon in which a voltage is produced when a magnetic field is applied to a conductor. This phenomenon is based on the relationship between the strength of a magnetic field and the Hall voltage. When a conductor is placed in an external magnetic field, a voltage is induced across the conductor, which is proportional to the strength of the magnetic field.
The MA302GQ-P utilizes four Hall effect chips to measure angular movement and two magnetic strips for linear position measurements within its operating range (±10° and 2.5 m respectively). The angular measurements are achieved by calculating the quadrature signals generated by the four Hall effect chips. The angular position is then calculated by means of the Hall effect signals, and a high-resolution 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for absolute angular position up to ±10°.
The MA302GQ-P also incorporates a pre-calibrated magnetic strip for detecting linear position. This magnetic strip and the two 2D Hall sensors are used to accurately measure and calculate linear movement within the operating range up to ±2.5 m. The linear movement is also calculated by the ADC which is capable of measuring absolute linear position up to ±2.5 m. The resolution of the linear position measurement is 0.1 mm.
The MA302GQ-P is a highly integrated sensor with an advanced algorithm for measuring angular and linear position simultaneously up to 100 Hz and 10 Hz respectively. Additionally, this sensor is temperature compensated and electromagnetic interference (EMI) compatible, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
