MAATSS0015SMB is an RF Evaluation and Development Kits (EDK) designed for applications that identify, characterize, quantify, and emulate RF signals. It has a dual-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and digital-to-RF (DRF) which allows for a wide range of signal types, frequencies, and parameters to be evaluated. This set of EDK is ideal for fast, simple, system-level evaluation of various radio frequency (RF) signal chains. Its powerful yet easy-to-use software and hardware combination opens the door to experimentation with a variety of signal types, modulation parameters, and frequencies confirming system performance even before portability.

MAATSS0015SMB Application Field and Working Principle

The MAATSS0015SMB includes a WideBand Digital-to-Analog converter (DAC) and DRF modules. It is intended for rapid system-level assessment of broad scope of RF signal Chains. The board is also capable of optimizing a signal chain with reference measurement cases prior to production. Its internal parameters and configurations can be modified to meet system requirements.One of the main advantages of MAATSS0015SMB EDK is for research and development in communications, military and military-like technologies, RADAR, and RADAR-like passive measurements. It is also suitable for setting up a prototype in production through its compatible demonstrations.The MAATSS0015SMB EDK has two operation modes including single and multi-modulation. In single mode, device can be used to perform characterization and signal testing. In multi-mode, large-scale measurements and device comparison can be achieved. The wideband signal performance of this kit is an advantage when comparing to conventional evaluation kits as it enables lower noise figures and higher speed measurements in the frequency range between 2 and 8 GHz with signal bandwidth of up to 200 MHz. The main components of the MAATSS0015SMB EDK consist of a power amplifier, wideband digital-to-analog converter (DAC), digital-to-RF (DRF) modulator, down converter, and driver with configureable board.The wideband DAC integrated in the MAATSS0015SMB is a collection of matching resistors, capacitors and voltage-controlled oscillators with dual-outputs. It facilitates the conversion of digital signals to analog. This output formed from the dual outputs forms a wideband signal within a frequency range of 2GHz to 8GHz.The DRF modulator multiplies the digital signal with a reference signal at a fixed frequency. The output from the DRF modulator is then tailored with a high or low pass filter or switched depending on the application.The down converter, or demodulator, performs the reverse operations as the modulator and translates the RF frequency information back to its original digital form. The driver along with the configureable board enhances the DEM along with carrying interrupts and directing the flow of data.The MAATSS0015SMB EDK combines these components of the signal chain in an independent platform, making it ideal for characterizing a wideband of RF signals.
