MAF95094 is an intelligent temperature and flow sensor developed and manufactured by NXP. This sensor is suitable for real-time tracking or monitoring of temperature in air conditioning, hot water systems and heating systems. It can also be used in automotive HVAC systems, building management systems, heat transfer systems, medical cooler systems and other applications where temperature and flow are key parameters.The MAF95094 is designed to read temperatures from a range of -45°C to +125°C with a resolution of 0.1°C. It measures temperature via its analog input pin and uses an internal temperature-to-frequency conversion to produce a frequency output that corresponds to a given temperature. In addition, the sensor also features a flow measurement capability that can detect a minimum pressure of 0.02 psi.The MAF95094 is a digital output device, meaning it does not require any external logic for operation. In order to truly take advantage of its features, however, some additional circuitry is necessary. This circuitry consists of a power management unit to regulate the voltage of the MAF, an ADC converter to convert the frequency output of the sensor into a usable digital reading, and a buffer to store this data for easy access.Temperature and flow readings are provided in the form of a 16-bit digital stream, with the temperature being sent out as a 12-bit data frame and the flow being sent out as a 4-bit data frame. This data stream is then transferred through an I2C compliant interface. The digital output is provided as a set of register maps that can be accessed through an I2C compatible host controller.The MAF95094 is an ideal solution for applications in which temperature and flow are the most critical parameters. Its integrated temperature measurement and flow logging capabilities ensure an accurate and responsive tracking system that can keep a close eye on environmental conditions. Furthermore, its digital output and I2C interface make it easy to integrate this sensor into a wide variety of applications, ranging from automotive HVAC systems to building management systems.
