TVS-Diodes, or Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS), are voltage-triggered, solid-state, non-linear devices that have a symmetrical voltage rating in order to protect sensitive circuits from transient overvoltage and overcurrent events. The MAPLAD15KP16CAE3 TVS diode is designed, tested, and verified to have the highest level of robustness and reliability in order to protect communication ports, computer ports, and other protection circuits from surge events. The MAPLAD15KP16CAE3 diode features Reverse Stand-Off Voltage (Vr) of 15kV and Breakdown Voltage Point (Vbr) of 16caV. It has an operating temperature range between -55°C and 150°C and a relatively low Leakage Current (IL) of 100µA at 25°C. Additionally, its capability to maintain good clamping ratings over the entire operating temperature range makes it an ideal choice for protection of high voltage sensitive circuits.The MAPLAD15KP16CAE3 diode is a dual-diode device, meaning it has two symmetrical TVS components mirroring each other, one for positive voltage and one for negative voltage. Each component is designed to guard its individual side against overvoltage or overcurrent surge events. When an overvoltage- or overcurrent surge event occurs, these diodes will trigger and clamp the voltage or current level down to a safe level and divert the remaining energy away from the sensitive circuit.Furthermore, MAPLAD15KP16CAE3 diodes are designed to provide ESD protection based on IEC61000-4-2, which is defined by the following criteria: Contact discharge level that is rated to 8kV and Air Discharge level that is rated to 15kV. In addition, the Peak Pulse Power (PPP) is rated to 69W for Peak Pulse Current of 35A for 10/1000µs.
