MAPLAD30KP15CAE3 is a type of Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) diode, which is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from transient voltage spikes. A voltage spike can damage components, destroy data, reduce equipment life and lead to costly repairs. TVS diode is relatively inexpensive and offers a higher surge current handling capability for the protection of critical circuits against overvoltage and transient surges.MAPLAD30KP15CAE3 is a unidirectional 15KW peak pulse power (PPP) voltage surge protection diode that is specifically designed for Automotive electronics applications. It is constructed with Silicon Avalanche technology which enables it to withstand high voltage transients up to 30KV. This component features low capacitance of 6.8pF typical and fast response time of less then 1ns. As a result, it is suitable to accept transient surge pulses up to 15KW peak or 10A Ipp. It also has a low leakage current which is particularly important for Automotive applications.The working principle of MAPLAD30KP15CAE3 is based on the avalanche breakdown phenomenon of a semiconductor p-n junction. When its reverse biased voltage exceeds its breakdown voltage, the avalanche effect occurs. As current flows through the component, an avalanche of electrons and holes is created within the junction which is capable of carrying large surge current in the forward direction of the diode.MAPLAD30KP15CAE3 has a wide range of applications in Automotive electronics. It can be used for transient overvoltage protection in Automotive power lines and ancillary lines. It is also suitable for surge protection for Automotive audio, video and telecommunications equipment, as well as motorized controlling circuits. Other applications include overvoltage protection of brake systems, electronic engine systems, electronic airbag systems, electronic anti-lock systems and other electronic components.To sum up, MAPLAD30KP15CAE3 is a type of TVS diode which offers surge current protection for Automotive electronics applications.
