The MAX20053AUD/V+ from Maxim Integrated is a high-speed output current-mode buck LED driver. It offers high-brightness LED (HB LED) driving for displays and cameras in a wide range of applications, enabling them to have wider dimming range across all colors. The MAX20053AUD/V+ operates with efficiency up to 90% and supports 6V-24V input voltage range. It supports a wide range of LED strings including single LEDs, multiple LED strings and arrays of LEDs. The IC also supports a wide variety of dimming methods like an external PWM (frequency <300 Hz) signal and/or an external analog voltage control between 0V and 1.3V.
The MAX20053AUD/V+ is a two-stage buck LED driver that offers a wide range of features and flexibility in driving LEDs. The MAX20053AUD/V+ features built-in digital load-line regulation (DLLR) for enabling consistent LED current and voltage regulation across the IC. This allows for easy compensation of LED drive currents and easy compensation of LED Vf droop. The MAX20053AUD/V+ also features an advanced LED current protection loop (ACLP) to monitor the LED output current and protect the LEDs from current overloads or short circuits. In addition, the MAX20053AUD/V+ offers a wide range of other features such as support for slew rate and over-temperature protection.
The MAX20053AUD/V+ includes an on-chip voltage reference, built-in switching frequency adjustment and an open-drain output enable signal that are all used to enable synchronous LED dimming operation. The MAX 20053AUD/V+ also features an integrated over-current control loop for a constant LED current for a wide range of LED strings.
