MAX2042ETP+

The MAX2042ETP+ is a RF mixers which provides high linearity, low power consumption, and low RF distortion in a small package. This RF mixer provides a wide range of applications, including wireless communication, defense and aerospace, and automotive applications.

Application Field

The MAX2042ETP+ is designed to support demanding, medium- to high- frequency applications. It can be used for convert a wide operating frequency (e.g. 70MHz ~ 8GHz) into a baseband signal, and can be used for up-, down- and cross–conversion of the RF signal from low frequencies to ultra-high frequencies. By combining with other components, it can be used for a wide range of applications, including wireless LAN applications, cellular base stations, satellite radio, ISDB-T, car radio, WCDMA systems, wireless local area network, and radar.

Working Principles

The MAX2042ETP+ is designed to be integrated into a complete front-end radio frequency (RF) receiver. At the heart of the mixer is the active mixer core. This core combines the radio frequency signal with a local oscillator signal to create sideband signals. These sideband signals are then amplified by the gain stage. Finally, the amplified sideband signals are filtered to obtain the desired signal output.

The active core should be optimized in order to achieve the highest possible sensitivity and linearity of the mixer. In order to achieve this, the mixer should be designed to minimize nonlinear gain compression and oscillator frequency folding. The active core also provides adjustable gain, which can be used to customize the output signal for various applications.

In addition to the active core, the MAX2042ETP+ also has an input filter to reduce out-of-band noise and unwanted interference. The format of the filter can be selected according to the application (e.g. lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and band-stop filters). The filter can be adjusted to achieve the desired passband characteristics and to maximize the signal-to-noise performance.
