Equipped with an integrated logic-level converter and enable/disable function, it is engineered for data transmission, reception and signal conditioning for RS-232 compatible applications. Application Field

The MAX211ECAI+ is mainly used for medical, industrial and consumer applications which require RS-232 communication over larger distances. The easy-to-implement isolation solutions provided by the MAX211ECAI+ helps to minimize EMI, reduce ground looping and allow data transmission up to and beyond 100m. Working Principle

The MAX211ECAI+ is a special-purpose semiconductor device that provides isolation between two signals. It is designed to transmit data in both directions using half-duplex operation, meaning it can send and receive data but not at the same time. The device consists of four transceivers: two in the transmitter section and two in the receiver section. Each transceiver is composed of two transistors – a “driver” and a “receiver” – that provide separate pathways for the data to flow in either direction. The driver transistors are used to convert the logic-level control signals into TTL voltage levels, while the receiver transistors accept the TTL signals and convert them back into logic-level output signals.The MAX211ECAI+ also includes a separate enable/disable pin.
