The MAX2361ETM+T is an integrated transmitter module module for use in the 3G and 4G digital radio transceivers. It is a versatile, single-chip RF transmitter module that operates in the 824 MHz to 894MHz ISM band, and is ideal for applications such as 3G LTE-FDD systems, HSPA+ systems, and WiMAX systems. The MAX2361ETM+T is designed to address power, linearity, and transmit sensitivity needs in a cost-effective manner.
The MAX2361ETM+T is divided into two die, one containing the control logic and the second containing the RF power amplifier stage. The control logic die handles the digital control signals from the system microcontroller and provides direct control of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs). The maximum output power of the RF power amplifier is +20 dBm, and the linearity performance is guaranteed to provide more than 4 dB of adjacent channel power (ACP) suppression.
The MAX2361ETM+T provides a wide range of operating modes beyond the conventional manual operation, including the selection of power levels, pre-correction bias and control, and modulation enable/disable control. It also performs completely automated transmit calibration to ensure optimal performance. The MAX2361ETM+T also supports an intelligent power control (IPC) mechanism that allows the power output to be automatically adjusted depending on the importance/urgency of the transmission, reducing power consumption when possible and increasing transmission reliability.
The MAX2361ETM+T also supports frequency synthesis via a series of digitally-controlled voltage-controlled oscillator (VCXO) stages. This reduces system size and cost as frequency synthesizer components are no longer required. In addition, the MAX2361ETM+T is designed to be compliant with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) R10 requirements for third-generation digital radio systems.
The MAX2361ETM+T is a broadband device that supports a large variety of modulation types, including Frequency Hopping and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). This allows the device to operate in GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSPA+, LTE and LTE-Advanced systems. Modulation gain control and pre-correction are available on the device to optimize peak-to-average power ratios (PAPR) for peak power control or efficient power back-off.
The MAX2361ETM+T is also equipped with on-board power-on reset (POR) circuitry and programmable output impedance. It additionally supports low-side duplication for alignment with other devices in the radio transmit chain, and provides an integrated thermal control solution to maintain optimal radio performance. In addition, a power monitor pin is provided to monitor the PA output power.
The MAX2361ETM+T is a highly integrated and cost-effective transmitter module and is ideal for use in 3G and 4G digital radios. It is suitable for use in a variety of applications such as portable radios, base stations, handsets, and other wireless devices.
