MAX2363ETM+T is a two-chip, high-performance, low-power Radio Frequency (RF) transmitter module for use in short-range applications such as global system for mobile communications (GSM) systems. This transmitter includes an on-board power amplifier, T/R switch, low-noise amplifier (LNA), micropower oscillator and mixer all in a small direct-solvent-mount (DSM) module format. The MAX2363ETM+T transmitter supports up to 500 mW of RF output power depending on temperature, voltage and load. This transmitter uses a unique self-calibrating voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and circuit design to deliver excellent RF performance and low total harmonic distortion (THD) over the entire operating range--both DC and RF.

The MAX2363ETM+T transmits digital data in the frequency range of 0.9 GHz -2.7 GHz. Data is transmitted by modulating the VCO frequency and amplitude. The on-board RF power amplifier stage provides up to 500mW of RF output power with a typical 0.7dB noise figure. The receiver uses a low-noise amplifier (LNA) to provide gain and impedance matching between the RF signal source and the MAX2363ETM+T. The transmitter includes a power control circuit to adjust the frequency and amplitude of the transmitted signal.

The MAX2363ETM+T includes a T/R switch that can be configured to one of two operating modes; transmit (TX) or receive (RX). When the transmitter is in TX mode, it drives the antenna to transmit the RF signal. In RX mode, the T/R switch is activated to disconnect the VCO from the antenna and connect to the LNA input. This allows the receiver to detect and receive the signal from the antenna.
