The MAX24210EXG+ clock generator provides an external crystal oscillator (XO) for generating clocks on two banks of four differential clock outputs. This highly versatile device offers very wide range adjustable frequency outputs, high-output current fast settling-time, adjustable clock output delay and skew, programmable output amp driving strength setting and low-Jitter operation making it ideal for many applications with stringent timing requirements.
The MAX24210EXG+ offers a wide range of application possibilities. These include clock generation and distribution, clock fanout, and clock conversion. It is particularly well-suited to systems requiring precise synchronization and timing such as industrial, medical, communication, consumer or automotive. It can be used in clock-generating equipment, network protocol synchronization, laser control and data processing systems, disk drive controllers, and other applications.
The MAX24210EXG+ provides a precise clock signal with adjustable frequency, using an external XO as its reference clock. The external XO should be capable of operating up to 400MHz, providing maximum flexibility in setting precise clock frequencies. It will operate in both fundamental and third-overtone modes from the XO, allowing clock frequencies up to 400MHz with very low phase noise. It also offers high slew rate and fast settling times, adjustable output amplitude and delay, programmable output power and temperature stability.
The MAX24210EXG+ can generate two banks of clock signals, each with four differential clock outputs selectable between LVPECL, LVDS and HCSL formats. The minimum clock output frequency is 25MHz, while the maximum frequency depends on the type of output format selected. Output amplitude can also be adjusted with superior output current and fast settling time. Output skew between different clock pairs can also be minimized, to less than 200ps, offering great range of applications for system synchronization.
The MAX24210EXG+ also offers adjustable power and low supply current, making it well-suited for mobile and battery-powered applications where power efficiency is essential. It also features a fail-safe mode which automatically sets all clock output levels to a low state when the device is not operational.
