The MAX263ACPI+ is an active filter from Texas Instrument which provides the attributes of low filter insertion loss, low ripple, wide stopband rejection, small size, and low cost. It is an integrated pin-to-pin compatible upgrade designed to replace costly discrete applications. It is designed for very low power operation and is inherently stable when driven to full gain.
Application Field
The MAX263ACP+ active filter can be used in applications requiring low noise, sharp roll-off characteristics. Its low insertion loss and low power requirements make it ideal for direct RF signal conditioning or baseband signal conditioning of frequency selective circuits. Commonly used in high-end analog television processing and direct broadcast satellite receivers, it can be used in other consumer electronics applications such as DVD players, radios and car multimedia systems. Additionally, it can be deployed as part of a voice communications infrastructure, providing density and efficiency improvements over discrete solutions in systems such as: Marine radiotelephones, handset base stations, public, private and cellular landmobile networks, and emitter/receiver transceivers.
Working Principle
The MAX263ACP+ active filter performance is enhanced by its underlying technology that offers steep filter slopes and wide stopband rejection. It provides a low filter insertion loss, wide stopband rejection, and high attenuation over a broad range of frequency responses. The filter also has a wide dynamic range, with a center frequency of 0.9GHz and a maximum adjustable range of 17dB at 1GHz, 33dB at 2GHz, and 47dB at 3GHz.
The MAX263ACP+ works through the use of various filter topologies combined with the integrated active filter and switching elements. The integrated active filter consists of four filter stages with three filter elements in each stage. The filter elements are interconnected to provide a time-based response or a stopband rejection response. The signal is then sent to the integrated switching elements that consist of multiple switches, two inverters and two resistors which control the frequency response of the system. The output from the filter is fed to the integrated low- noise amplifier, which increases the signal level to a predetermined level for further processing.
The MAX263ACP+ active filter provides high linearity and low noise performance, as well as providing excellent stability and accuracy over a wide operating temperature range. It is ideal for use in a variety of demanding applications and is available in a variety of packages to suit an array of design requirements and system levels.
