MAX4076EUK-T application field and working principleProduct IntroductionThe MAX4076EUK-T is a monolithic low-noise, low power, single-supply, rail-to-rail input/output operational amplifier from Maxim Integrated. It consists of a fully differential amplifier stage with a high precision, low offset voltage op-amp that features low noise, low distortion and wide dynamic range. The MAX4076EUK-T operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply and is able to deliver gains from unity to 10V/V with a maximum specified input range of 0V to VDD (Voltage at Drain).The amplifier operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and has an excellent power supply rejection ratio (PSRR). Additionally, the part has very low input bias current, making it ideal for audio and sensor applications.Application FieldsThe MAX4076EUK-T is a small size and low power amplifier suitable for high-performance applications in the industrial, automotive, communication, and medical markets. It offers outstanding performance which make it ideal for audio preamplifier, high-precision data acquisition, communication line drivers, transimpedance amplifiers and temperature measurement systems. This performance makes it ideal for battery powered applications such as portable medical instruments and portable audio.Working PrincipleThe MAX4076EUK-T is a two-stage amplifier working in rail-to-rail mode and is fully differential. Its main stages consist of a differential input stage, with two intermediate stages and a final output stage.The differential input stage consists of two matched emitter-follower transistors which amplify the difference between their inputs. The Q5/Q6 pair form a differential input active stage, without external feedback components.The two intermediate stages, consisting of Q3/Q4 and Q7/Q8, supply the voltage gain. They are used to vary the closed-loop gain of the operational amplifier. Both of these stages are connected in source-follower configuration and have identical gain network.Finally the output stage provides the necessary output current to drive the load. The output stage consists of a single NPN transistor and operates in Common-Emitter configuration. The Common-Emitter configuration provides a high-impedance load drive capability and is able to deliver reverse-polarity output voltage along with low distortion.ConclusionThe MAX4076EUK-T is a low-noise, low power, rail-to-rail input/output operational amplifier that is suitable for industrial, automotive, communication and medical applications.
