The MAX44251AKA+T is a dual-channel, rail-to-rail instrumentation amplifier designed for high-end industrial and medical applications. This ultra-low power (4 uA per channel), amplifies differential signals across its terminals with differential gain and common-mode rejection of over 115 dB. Its onboard precision 55 dB low-noise programmable gain amplifier (PGA) also helps to provide common gain levels across the channels.
The instrumentation amplifier consists of two sections, the first being the PGA and the second being the amplifier section. The PGA’s gain is programmable through a digital bus, providing adjustable gain steps starting at 0 dB, and can be set in 1 dB increments to 55 dB. The gain setting is automatically memorized across power-off conditions, thus allowing the PGA to always re-gain the same settings after power-up.
The amplifier section consists of two differential amplifiers, each with 2R + 2R topology, which provide rail-to-rail output swing. With its dual-channel layout, each amplifier offers different gains, eliminating the need for additional external components.
