The MAX5035BUPA+ is a DC-DC switching regulator with a constant on-time, current-mode control architecture. This feature helps the converter to meet the requirements of many different converters. The MAX5035BUPA+ can be used to regulate output voltages up to 6V, at output current up to 6A.The switching regulator inside the MAX5035BUPA+ works in constant on-time, pulsed current mode. The operation starts with a current-sense signal initiating a primary switching to generate a high voltage level. The high voltage level has to be reflected into the secondary side elements, to generate a lower output voltage from a higher input voltage. During the current ramp up caused by the primary switching, the comparator inside MAX5035BUPA+ senses the current and compares it to the programmed reference voltage. When the two levels match, the comparator triggers a shut-down command, which in turn stops the primary switching. The output voltage in the secondary side will then go down, and the same current-sense signal will start the primary switching cycle again.The switching frequency is determined by the setting of the external resistor employed, and may be adjusted from 25 KHz to 750 KHz. The switching operating frequency can be changed to optimize the efficiency of the converter, or to reduce electromagnetic interference.Conclusion
