The MAX5035EASA+ is a high-performance, high-frequency synchronous step-down dc-dc controller that efficiently delivers up to 4A of continuous output current. It utilizes a constant frequency, current-mode, pulse-width modulation (PWM) architecture that optimizes efficiency over line, load and temperature variations. This device is capable of rejecting input voltage ripples, allowing a ripple-tolerant design. With a reference voltage of 0.8V, the MAX5035EASA+ is suitable for powering systems from a 3.4V to 24V input voltage range. It can also be used with an adjustable output voltage to provide a wide range of output voltage settings from 0.8V to 90% of the input voltage range.

The MAX5035EASA+ also provides integrated Boost, SevSide™, and Inverting buck-boost controllers in a single 9-pin, 3 mm x 3 mm package. An integrated Boost controller supports low-voltage supplies ranging from 1.8V to 24V while the integrated SevSide controller supports input voltages ranging from 2.5V to 24V with an external Schottky diode. The integrated Inverting buck-boost operates over a 3.4V to 24V input voltage range. Programmable features on these regulators include efficiency-enhancing sleep mode, adjustable soft-start, and adjustable peak current limit.

The MAX5035EASA+ is a versatile switching regulator that can be used in a variety of applications. Common applications include communication and computing systems, LED lighting, industrial motor control and embedded systems. For example, its high switching frequency, low ripple, wide input voltage range and integrated Boost, SevSide™ and Inverting buck-boost make it ideal for low power high voltage applications such as low power DCDC for distributed power systems, automotive backup, and auxiliary power sources.

The MAX5035EASA+ works by converting a DC voltage input to a DC voltage output. The input voltage is first converted to a high-frequency AC current. This current is then filtered to remove any high frequency components, and the required output voltage is adjusted by varying the duty cycle of the voltage waveform. This is done using pulse-width modulation (PWM), which allows for precise control of the output voltage. The current-mode control keeps the output current constant and prevents overload. The device also has an integrated Boost, SevSide™, and Inverting buck-boost which can be easily switched using the MODE pin.
