The MAX5088ATE+T are low quiescent current, BiCMOS step-up DC-DC converters which provide high efficiency and is designed to generate a regulated output voltage of 3.3V, 5V, or adjustable to a maximum of 24V, from a single Li+ cell. The output current can be up to 400mA depending on the input and output voltage.

Working Principle

The Modulus of the MAX5088ATE+T is based on the inductor based boost topology. A switch is used to periodically charge a storage inductor, which is then discharged into a capacitor to produce the correct output voltage. This high frequency operation allows a very compact, efficient voltage conversion solution.

The MAX5088ATE+T is equipped with a very low quiescent current which is capable of maintaining high power efficiency while increasing battery life. The low quiescent current makes this chip an ideal choice for metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) applications that require a low standby power.

The MAX5088ATE+T also includes Auto Discharge Mode, a unique feature that automatically discharges the input capacitor when the output is disabled. This significantly improves the EMI performance and cycle-by-cycle current limit accuracy of the device.
