Working Principle

The MAX5291BEUE+ works by taking a digital input of 8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit or 14-bit and then transfer it into a corresponding voltage (up to 7.8 mV) or current (up to 6.4 $\mu$A); which is then output as an analog signal.When the DAC is first powered up, it will enter the RESET or Shutdown state, depending on the chosen configuration by the user. Once in this state, the output of the DAC will be disabled and its output registers cleared. To begin operation, the user should activate the “LDAC” pin to put the DAC in the active state. The digital input of the DAC is then utilized in a process which is known as digital-to-analog conversion. In this process, the digital input is first transferred into its equivalent decimal number, which is then used to calculate the corresponding voltage or current. The output register then takes the calculated voltage or current value and converts it into an analog signal, which is then output through the appropriate output pin (Vout or Iout).
