MAX531BCSD+T is a high-performance, low-cost, and high-resolution 8-bit, voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It is designed for use in industrial, medical and instrumentation applications. The MAX531BCSD+T operates from a single +5 V rail and operates with a clock frequency of up to 10 MHz.The input is latched by the falling edge of the CLK input.The device includes a flexible reference/offset voltage input allowing multiple-bit rate operation, 1 ppm/°C internal reference temperature coefficient, 1 mA maximum source current, and a wide range of reference inputs. The digital input format is 8-bit straight binary.

The basic circuit for the MAX531BCSD+T consists of an 8-bit D/A converter, a high-speed data buffer, a reference/offset circuit, and a high-speed clock. The 8-bit DAC has an input resolution of 8 bits, with any single bit change resulting in a 256-step voltage change (in 0.5 mV increments). The data buffer latch provides high-speed buffering of the data before the DAC. The reference/offset circuit provides the desired reference and offset voltage to the DAC and also provides the option of multiple-bit rate operation. The clock provides the system timing and resolution.
