The MAX5888AEGK+TD is a low-power, wide-voltage digital-to-analog converter (DAC) application field intended for use in data acquisition (DAQ) systems, industrial automation systems and instrumentation gear. This device is based on a fast, low-noise, 4-quadrant multiplying DAC (MDAC) core. This MDAC core is integrated with a 10-bit, low-noise DAC array, providing the user enhanced performance relative to devices using traditional string DACs.
The main feature of this device is the low power consumption and wide power supply range (2.7V to 5.5V). The MAX5888AEGK+TD also offers a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C – making it ideal for applications in harsh or extreme environments. Each output is buffered by a multi-level symmetric (MLEG) buffer and contains an offset cancellation circuitry. It also uses a low-pass filter for further noise reduction. It offers a maximum output authority of 10V PEAK to PEAK with a full-scale gain range from 0.25V/V to 20V/V.
The MAX5888AEGK+TD also offers configurable input clippers and digital gain controls within the device. It allows the user to limit the input voltage range to preserve the dynamic range of the handled signal. This feature is of particular use in industrial automation applications. The integrated digital gain controller allows the user to customize the output authority of the system as well as to offset any of the gains induced in the analog signal path.
